Over the years I have experienced immense grief as a result of losing many family, friends and animals. The dark days of grief were compounded living and working through “the troubles” in N. Ireland, in an area of high Political unrest within the Community/Voluntary Sector working for a Charitable organizations.
The loss of our father and representing him at numerous wakes and funerals inspired my mother, sisters and I to revive the old tradition of wearing a symbol to identify family members as grieving at wakes and funerals, and the journey of Mourning Cross bereavement pins began. We also identified the need to provide information to help support families when organizing a funeral and developed two websites: www.funeralfriend.co.uk and www.thefuneralladies.com. I was fortunate during that time to meet Don Eisenhauer who offered me the opportunity to study End of Life Coaching. Completing the course has not only qualified me to support those who are grieving but also facilitated my own grief journey, helping me to deal with my unresolved grief in moving forward with my life. Helping others is my vocation and I believe a better path is often cleared for us to travel behind the experience of others.
